To begin with Dr. Sureshramana Mayya, the President of the Association welcomed the esteemed members and appreciated the members for attending the virtual meeting in spite of pandemic and their encouragement to adjust to new normal situation. He requested Manjunath, the Counsellor to appraise the activities initiated by Municipality for the development of the ward.
Sri Manjunath, Counsellor and active member of the association appraised about the steps taken by him.
1. Water Supply to all the areas. The problem of supplying water to all the areas, including the areas which are situated at hight were solved by dividing the areas into three zones, water will be released for a duration of 8 hours for each zone. Accordingly, third zone is our zone which gets water supply from 6 pm to 2 am, Hence, they open water supply at 6 pm and close at 2 am. But;, contrary to our expectations, water failed to reach the elevated areas, hence, due to our request, as a special case, they enhanced water supply duration to 12 hours, extended to 4 pm to 4 am. Zone-wise, they preferred, leakages are not properly attended hence, water failed to reach to high areas. We hope that they will rectify the leakages caused at roadwork at highways, shortly, they assured it, afterwards, the water supply will reach to high areas, what Manjunath said.
2. He also dwelt in detail about the meeting with DC on September 9th, along with MP, MLA and Municipal Authorities, where he explained all the problems of Eshwar Nagar. He also gave in writing about the problems faced by the residents of Eshwar Nagar. The water supply problem, electricity issues, streetlights, for which, the authorities agreed to solve. Regarding the maintenance, the major problem is being caused by volves, we are not getting proper information about it opening, closing time, replacement, where these volves are situated, they are not sharing this vital information to us, we have been requesting them to replace some of the volve mounts, the lack of formation of Municipality, coupled with heavy work pressures at Municipal Level failed to produce the desired results.
3. As regards, streetlight, though the problems were solved during last year, once again, he problems started during this year, there are many issues like lack of switches, around non-functioning of 15 lights of our ward already brought to the notice of concerned authorities, shortly, they will be addressed.
4. Pertaining to grass cutting, a team consisting five members have been functioning in our ward on rotation basis, you might have seen them working in your area, usually work on every Thursday, they start working at 7 am and end their work at noon at 1 pm, they usually come and get instructions from him and started working from Trishanku Nagar and recently ended work near the residence of Shri HNS Rao and Sri Ariga, Counsellor Sri Manjunath Said. Mr. Manjunatha expressed the problem associated with grass cutting, due to rapid growth of grasses, he felt that the present practice of cutting grass once in a week is not sufficient, at least twice in a week is required, this is a common problem of whole of Udupi as such, discussion is being carried out to redress this issues, Mr. Manjunath reiterated.
5. The problem of divider at our High Way has created new problem. The people who wants to go to Salalebettue have to take a turn at Petrol Bunk at Eshwar Nagar, it has created problem to Animals also. We tried to redress this issue through DC and SP and other authorities. SP even visited the spot, who thought of putting multi-specialised traffic Control System, as per National Highway Rules, the divider cannot be removed, they authorities informed, he said.
6. Regarding the development work, the Counsellor expressed regret that after the break of COVID-19, there is not much development work, no patchwork, expect few works like road near Dr. Rajesh Bhaktha’s home, which was initiated by Sri Mahesh Thakur with the help of MP Development Funds, I tried my level best to complete the concrete roads, he said. After the formation of Municipality, he hopes to complete all the pending roads with concrete top, he continued.
7. Another most important issue is the disposal of wastes, you can see the progress, he said, from the last two months, the Municipality is kind enough to give one tipper to each ward, he said that the team would be taking care and maintain that vehicle with proper follow up. Pertaining to segregation of wastes, he felt happiness over the setting of more than 60 pipe composting units in Eshwar Nagar Wards. It is the maximum compared to all other wards at present. He thanked the residents of Eshwar Nagar Ward for cooperating in setting of pipe composting in large numbers. This development is to be emulated. The segregation of wet and dry and its estimation and measurement indicated a marked positive trend, which is appreciated by authorities. Every Thursday, the tipper takes dry waste, people of Eshwar Nagar got adjusted, initial hiccups and lack of adjusting to this new system have already been solved, the residents of Eshwar Nagar have adjusted to this new system, the necessary awareness has already been created among the people, shortly, Eshwar Nagar will set an example to other areas, the Counsellor said. After the normalisation of existing system, the distribution of bucket for segregating wet and dry may be implemented. The formation of SOP, hand gloves, ESI, PF, Uniform, motivation to all the staff associated with this work is underway, he remarked. To innovate and establish success, the Counsellors of four wards, namely, Eshwar Nagar, Sagri, Kunjebettu and Indrali have joined together, change is the need for the day, the Counsellor, expressed through online meeting empathically. The people of Eshwar Nagar are positive, responsive, always encourage new initiatives, that is why, can could do all these, he said.
8. The pending problem of Garden is held up due to COVID-19, he expressed his confidence to solve that issue within two months.
9. Lastly, he expressed his willingness to hold a meeting with MLA, development can take place with the support of elected leader, the civic problems can be redressed with the cooperation of elected representative, he said.
10.Dr. Yagnesh Sharma brought to the notice of the Counsellor about the lack of uniformity in cutting of grass, some areas are left out, he said. The Counsellor requested to inform him about this variation so that the issue can be attended. Dr. Sharma also brought to the notice of members and Counsellor about the sign board, he suggested the association to take up this issue. The Counsellor expressed problem of lack of formation of Municipality for two years, he also expressed problem that the work to be done by Municipality can be taken up only by Municipality and it is appropriate. Dr. Sharma brought to the notice of the Counsellor the changing of LED with other bulbs, for which Counsellor informed that, the Municipality will replace all the bulbs with LED. Dr. Gowri also suggested that grass cutting should be taken up in all the roads, not only in some areas, Dr. Arun Maiya thanked the Counsellor for the good work, at the same time he requested to clean the empty sites near his house, the Counsellor assured to take appropriate action. Dr. Balachandra, Executive Committee Member drawn the attention of the Counsellor to the Street Light of Second Main, Mr. Manjunath informed him that quick action will be taken within a couple of days. Even, the problem of streetlights, especially, LED lights can be informed to Mr. Ramesh Shettigar, who is responsible to maintain the street lights and water supply, his phone number will be shared among the esteemed members, Mr. Manjunath assured. His phone number is 9448327892, the members can talk to him directly. Mr. Rajavarma Ariga requested to continue with fogging to control mosquito, the Counsellor assured that he will attend to it.
11.Mr Srinivasa Poojari requested the committee to have next meeting in the Babbuswami Auditorium, he agreed to host the meeting with social distancing. The President expressed to have more virtual meeting to maintain social distancing.
12.Dr. Yagnesh Sharma raised the issue of conducting the AGM, the senior member Sri Srinivasa Rao explained in detail the mandatory requirements of sending notice to all the members, 21 days notice through post, minimum number of members, clarification with the Registrar about the time, last date, sending of notice before three weeks, social distancing, members suggested to avoid dinner, only with tea, Srinivas Rao suggested high tea, Sri Srinivas Poojari suggested whether to have virtual meeting or physical meeting, Dr. Arun Maiya suggested to obtain permission, other guidelines, the President agreed to obtain the permission from the Registrar in this connection. The President suggested to conduct virtual meeting, Dr. Arun Maiya also suggested to have virtual meeting, Dr. Sharma expressed the concern about the lack of connectivity issues. Sri Srinivas Poojari suggested to obtain concurrence from Registrar to have online meeting, necessary approvals may be obtained from him. The President has to communicate with the Deputy Registrar about conducting of online meeting. Dr. Gowri, the senior member suggested not to have physical meeting due to increasing COVID-19 at Udupi.
13Later, as regards the financial position, the Treasurer Dr. Raghavendra Kamath assured to finalise the Balance Sheet. He agreed to go to CA within October month to finalise the Income and Expenditure Account and Balance Sheet. He informed that the dues are not collected due to pandemic, hence the balance is not more than Rs. 20,000, he also asked whether he could start collecting membership fees pertaining to 2020-21, the EC permitted to start collection of membership fees. There were suggestions to collect membership fees through UPI or other online mode, the President and Treasurer agreed to explore the possibility of collecting membership fees online. Sri Srinivas Rao appealed to collect membership fees online by sending Account Number and IFS Code through Whatsup or other online mode.
14The Secretary of the Association, Mr. Nagaraj thanked the participants for active participation of all the members. He appealed to have meeting once in fifteen days. He thanked all the senior members, members, Counsellor for active participation.
